attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the LARGEST HULA HOOPING ACTIVITY!

We need 114 people to set a new record and bring global awareness to diabetes. If you are interested in joining, please complete the form below. Hoops will be available for those who need one. All ages welcome.

If hula hooping is not your thing please come anyway in support of diabetes awareness and for the many other fun activities.

Speakers

Manny Hernandez is co-founder and president of Diabetes Hands Foundation (DHF) in Berkeley, CA. He has been instrumental to the development of the DHF’s diabetes awareness programs and continued outreach to offer support and diabetes information to nearly 200,000 people touched by diabetes every month. In 2007, he co-founded TuDiabetes.org and EsTuDiabetes.org. He also serves on the Multimedia Advisory Board at USC Annenberg School for Communication, has served on the board of iPump.org and wrote dlife.com’s only bilingual diabetes column for nearly four years.

Kelly L. Close is Editor-in-Chief of diaTribe (diaTribe.us), a monthly newsletter for people eager to learn more about better managing diabetes. She is also founder and president of Close Concerns, Inc., a healthcare information firm devoted to the business of diabetes. Kelly’s passion for the field comes from her extensive professional work as well as from her personal experience as a patient with type 1 diabetes for 25 years. In addition to her involvement with the JDRF Bay Area, Kelly also sits on the boards of the Behavioral Diabetes Institute and the Diabetes Hands Foundation.

Paul Madden, M.Ed. is an accomplished author and speaker serving in numerous leadership roles on national and international boards over the years including: the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), Chairs the AADE Education & Research Foundation, the Diabetes Exercise and Sports Association, the Diabetes Education and Camping Association, Chairing, the first International Diabetes Federation’s Young Leaders in Diabetes Program, the American Diabetes Association, JDRF, the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators, the Children with Diabetes Faculty. He empowers, educates and inspires people to explore and adopt healthier lifestyles. Paul touches the soul of the people he works with enabling them to address the challenges of life more fully and positively.
