Keith Nilsson serves as Vice President of Corporate Development for JDRF’s Silicon Valley Branch Board.

He is currently Managing Director and Partner of TPG Growth, focusing on internet investments globally. Prior to TPG, Nilsson was Managing Partner of Xplorer Capital, a growth equity fund focused on emerging markets internet opportunities. Prior to that, Nilsson held various executive roles at Yahoo!, including Vice President of Corporate Development. In this position he was responsible for all of the company’s investments, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic partnership activities. Keith holds a bachelor of arts from the University of California, Davis, an MBA from Columbia Business School, and a Master of International Affairs from Columbia’s School of International Affairs.
Keith’s youngest son, Kip, was diagnosed with T1D a few days after he turned two years old. “We were living in Singapore at the time. I was in a remote part of India on a business trip when I got the dreadful call that Kip was in the hospital with a disease that I knew very little about.” He and his wife quickly had to learn about how to manage T1D on a daily basis.
He also wants to do as much as he can to help raise funds for research to find a cure. “My wife and I believe that our most important job is keeping Kip as healthy as we can with as few diabetic-related complications as possible until there is a cure. Our hope and dream is that this happens in our lifetime.”
