It’s September 9th. Have you registered yet for the 2010 Walk to Cure Diabetes? Do you need motivation to get up, turn on your compute and then guide your browser to walk.jdrf.org to register for the Walk to Cure Diabetes? Looking for a new reason to help JDRF fund diabetes research that will ultimately lead to a cure?
You have no doubt heard that right now a better quality of life for all, and a cure, are within reach in our lifetime. The revenue raised through the Walk to Cure Diabetes is a critical part of JDRF annual research funding. JDRF needs you to join the Walk to Cure Diabetes to make a real difference in the lives of those living with diabetes. You understand that diabetes affects nearly 24 million people in the U.S. and 285 million people worldwide. As many as 3 million Americans have type 1 diabetes, the most severe form of the disease. Diabetes and its complications cost more than $174 billion dollars a year in the U.S. alone. You’ve been told that in 2009, JDRF more than 80% of expenditures support research and research education. We’ve all learned that JDRF provided over $101 million to diabetes research in 2009, bringing the cumulative total of research funding to more than $1.4 billion since JDRF’s founding in 1970. JDRF funded research projects in 22 countries throughout the world, including more than 40 human clinical trials.
