Walk to Cure Diabetes on the Golden Gate Bridge

by rebeccalien on 04/16/2010

For the last few months our staff has been searching for the perfect location for the San Francisco Walk to Cure Diabetes . After much traipsing through parks and the charting of potential Walk routes, our search has brought us to the most iconic landmark in the Bay Area – The Golden Gate Bridge!

On Saturday, October 23rd, the Walk to Cure Diabetes will bring together walk teams from the North Bay, Marin and San Francisco communities will join together to cross the Golden Gate Bridge for the Walk to Cure Diabetes.

As many of you know, Crissy Field will not be available this year because of the Doyle Drive/Highway 101 construction project. After several months of consideration, the decision has been made to combine the San Francisco and North Bay Walks for 2010. We have decided to build one fantastic event that reflects both communities and the important role they play at JDRF.

We greatly appreciate the dedication of our past Walk to Cure Diabetes teams, sponsors and volunteers. We hope many new teams will join us on October 23rd in the beautiful new Walk across the Golden Gate Bridge!

The Walk to Cure Diabetes website is now live. Be one of the first 10 teams to register and win a JDRF baseball cap! Sign up today at walk. For more information about the Walk or to get involved, please contact Alison Urmson at 415-597-6309 or aurmson@jdrf.org.

Thank you so much for your hard work and dedication to the Walk to Cure Diabetes!
