Please Attend AB 1802 Advocacy Day on April 19th

by Greg Martin on 04/09/2010

AB 1802 – the California bill that would permit voluntary non-medical school personnel to be trained to administer insulin – will be voted on April 20th by the Assembly Business & Professions Committee. We need your help to inform lawmakers that this issue is important and that AB 1802 is worthy of their support.

As part of this effort, we wanted to bring to your attention an Advocacy Day event being held on April 19, 2010, to encourage passage of this legislation. The American Diabetes Association (ADA) and its partners, as lead bill sponsors and organizers of this Advocacy Day, are encouraging all AB 1802 supporters to come to the California State Capitol to show their support and participate in advocacy training in the morning and lawmaker visits in the afternoon.

JDRF advocates will join ADA, DiabetesInCASchools.com, DREDF, Reed Smith LLP, and other organizations and individuals. If you are interested in attending, please contact, Lorraine Stiehl, JDRF Volunteer Chair of Grassroots Advocacy at lorstiehl@stiehlworks.com.

Regardless of your availability to attend the Advocacy Day, you are encouraged to join all advocates in calling their Assembly Members to seek support for AB 1802. Not sure who to call? Click here to identify your local lawmakers and use these Key Points to help convey why this bill is important to you. Know that every phone call, every letter, and every visit is important to push AB 1802 forward.

Thank you for your support of AB 1802.
